Children's Theatre
The Missoula Children’s Theatre, the nation’s largest touring children’s theatre, has been touring extensively for more than 40 years. From Montana to Japan, Missoula Children’s Theatre visits nearly 1,200 communities yearly with over 40 teams of Tour Actor/Directors. A tour team from Missoula Children’s Theatre will arrive in Evansville this June with a set, lights, costumes, props, and makeupー everything needed to put on a play, except the cast! After holding open auditions and casting around 50 students, the show is rehearsed throughout the week and two public performances are presented the following Saturday. All shows are original adaptations of classic children’s stories and fairytales… a twist on the classic stories you know and love. Along with getting involved in the production, three enrichment workshops are open to students. This production and the workshops are completely FREE to students thanks to community sponsors!
2024 Performances & Auditions
Auditions
This production is open to students who will be entering first grade in the fall of 2024 through students who completed eighth grade. Approximately 50 local students will be cast to appear in the show with the Missoula Children’s Theatre Tour Actor/Director. Up to four students will be cast as Assistant Directors. There is no guarantee that everyone who auditions will be cast in the play. Students wishing to audition must arrive by the scheduled start time and stay for the entire two-hour session. Some cast members will be asked to stay for a rehearsal immediately following the audition. This is a group audition and no advanced preparation is necessary. Students should be ready to come and have a good time!
Rehearsals
Rehearsals will be conducted every day during the week of residency. Although not all cast members will be needed at every session, those auditioning must have a clear schedule for the entire week and if selected, be able to attend all rehearsals required for their role and be available for all scheduled performances. A detailed rehearsal schedule will be distributed at the conclusion of the audition. Cast members scheduled for entire rehearsals will be asked to bring a sack lunch, dinner, or snack to be eaten during breaks.
Performances
Performances will be held the afternoon of the Saturday of the residency week. Tentative performance times will be 3pm and 5pm. Entry to performances is free.
